Dodge Plans Access to over 60,000 digitized plans, specifications and addenda, Dodge Plans offers comprehensive building documents on new construction, renovation and on private and public jobs. ACE Mentor Program

This program encourages high school students to consider AEC careers. Started in New York by Dr. Charles Thornton (ENR 2001 Person of the Year), it has about 10 chapters in East Coast cities with plans for expansion. Leaders in AEC firms mentor the students in a one-year program, bringing teams into their offices and/or on job sites. Each chapter offers annual scholarships. McGraw-Hill Construction is involved in supporting chapters and offering scholarships; employees serve on chapter boards and provide publication services.

American Architectural Foundation ( www.archfoundation.org)

The American Architectural Foundation's (AAF) mission is to promote awareness of the impact of architecture on every person. MH-CIG is the major sponsor of Accent on Architecture and the production of its annual video shown on PBS stations throughout the country. MH Professional Books is publishing a book on the 25-Year Award buildings and is supporting a traveling exhibit as a companion to the book. Norbert Young is a member of the Board of Regents.

The American Institute of Architects ( www.aia.org)

The American Institute of Architects (AIA) is the professional organization for architects with approximately 67,000 individual members, providing legislative support, industry research, continuing education programs and other professional/business support. Under a multi-year alliance agreement extending to 2005, Architectural Record is the member magazine and is the #1 source of continuing education for architects. Other initiatives include sponsoring keynote speakers at the annual convention, a Business Week/Architectural Record/AIA design awards program, joint research, GrassRoots sponsorship, scholarships for chapter executives to attend their annual CACE meeting, support for the UIA, Sweet's catalog distribution program, and membership in the allied organization. As AIA brings its revamped web site on line, there will be connections with all MH-CIG brands.

American Society of Landscape Architects ( www.asla.org)

The American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) represents some 14,000 member firms providing landscaping services. MH-CIG is negotiating initiatives for jointly publishing Product Profiles and Directory, the F. W. Dodge discount program, a Lifetime Learning program, and an online bookstore.

Associated Builders and Contractors ( www.abc.org )

The Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) has a 23,000 membership of firms dedicated to the merit shop philosophy and 83 local chapters. A national agreement is pending; however, in the interim we have a standard Dodge discount program, an annual convention exhibit, 12 joint plan rooms, an ENR affinity program and a co-branded web page with information exchange (legislative data for ENR/construction industry headlines).

Associated General Contractors of America ( www.agc.org)

The Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) has 36,000 members firms, which includes 8,000 general contractors and 14,000 specialty contractors. Dodge has six joint plan rooms and five virtual plan rooms with AGC. There is also an ENR/DB affinity program, co-sponsorship of a project delivery summit and a co-branded web page for exchange of information.

Civil Engineering Research Foundation (www.cerf.org)

The Civil Engineering Research Foundation (CERF) is dedicated to the transmission of technology from the laboratory to the marketplace. Under our alliance agreement, we co-sponsored their International Technology Symposium, MH-CIG is a member of the Corporate Advisory Board, and MH-CIG co-sponsors the National Council for the Construction Industry, a networking group of association and government executives.

Construction Specification Institute ( www.csinet.org)

The Construction Specification Institute has 18,000 architects, engineers, specifiers, contractors and product manufacturers, with 142-chapters. It develops specification standards and information flow processes. MH-CIG is active in their annual convention and exhibition with Sweet's sponsoring an award program for the building product manufacturers. MH-CIG was also the corporate sponsor for the 2001 Emergent Building Technologies Conference. Some other initiatives include an ENR affinity program, support for the Product Representative Academy, publishing the Manual of Practice, Lifetime Learning distance education, and leadership in the Overall Construction Classification System (OCCS) initiative.

Design-Build Institute of America ( www.dbia.org)

The Design-Build Institute of America has 650 AEC firms who work with the design-build delivery system. MH-CIG publishes the member magazine, Design-Build, as well as a membership directory and we participate in their annual convention.

International Alliance for Interoperability ( www.iai-na.org)

The North American Chapter of the IAI is dedicated to developing the aecXML schema and an international system of industry communication through the Industry Foundation Class (IFC) building model. Norbert Young is chair of the North American Chapter and MH-CIG personnel are involved in the various domains working on these initiatives.

Society for Marketing Professional Services ( www.smps.org)

The Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS) has 4,500 members dedicated to business development for architectural, engineering and contracting firms. MH-CIG sponsors their annual conference, has a co-branded web-page offering exchange of information, provides professional books, magazine and distance educational programs. SMPS co-sponsors the former Dodge regional construction outlook conferences and a Canadian marketing conference is in the planning stage. A related organization, Professional Services Marketing Association (PSMA), with 1,000 CEO's of ARC firms, is managed by SMPS and many of these same programs will be provided for it.
